James Cheshire

Solicitor

Prior to accepting a training contract at Taylor Walton, I attended the summer vacation scheme.  The scheme lasted two weeks and my time was spent in the Commercial Real Estate and Corporate and Commercial departments. During the scheme I was given the opportunity to do fee earning work, I was also given a research task to complete during my time in each department.

During the placement I found the fee earners and support staff at Taylor Walton to be extremely welcoming and accommodating.  In contrast to other placements I had been on, I appreciated that Partners took the time to introduce themselves and speak to me.  Where necessary I received considerable support and advice to assist me with the tasks I had been given.

I very much enjoyed the fee earning tasks I was given, but it was the culture of Taylor Walton that most appealed to me.  It appeared to me that everyone at the Firm worked as a team.  It was a team that I wanted to be a part of; so I subsequently applied for the training contract.  I am currently in my fourth seat of my training contract.
