Taylor Walton usually has between five and seven trainees spread over the two year duration of the Training Contract, so it’s easy for the Trainees to get to know each other quickly. As the Trainees are split between the Firm’s three offices, we try to get together every couple of months to catch up, share experiences and exchange tips for each new training seat. The Trainees often get involved in regional social activities which is a great way to get to know young lawyers at other local firms. The Hertfordshire Junior Lawyers Division (JLD) is quite active and we often try to attend their events; the annual charity quiz is popular!
Taylor Walton has a monthly ‘Friday @ 5’ event where everyone is encouraged to knock of early and head down to the pub to unwind. There is also the annual cricket match (although last year it was rained off due to it clashing with the only rainy day in July!), and arguably the highlight of the year, the Christmas Party which for the last few years has been held at a local county house with dinner, dancing and a casino!
The firm is keen to support local charities and this is often used as a good excuse to have some fun with colleagues whilst raising money for a good cause. Entering a team into the ‘Tough Mudder’ challenge has become an annual event, but for those who are slightly less adventurous, the local legal walks are always well attended.
