Alex Drake is a partner in the Private Client Department at Taylor Walton's St Albans office and has approaching 30 years’ experience in private client work. She offers specialist advice on a wide range of issues, including Wills, Trusts, lifetime tax planning, Powers of Attorney and Probate.
Alex was born and grew up in Harpenden attending first St Albans High School for Girls and then Haileybury College. Alex graduated from Durham University and worked for Bird & Bird for over ten years, first as an articled clerk (qualifying there in 1989) and then as a solicitor. Alex then moved to Sherrards Solicitors in St Albans, where she headed up the Private Client Department, becoming a Partner in 2004. Alex joined Taylor Walton as a Partner in 2009.
Alex advises on all issues relating to Wills and estate planning (including inheritance tax), as well as applying for Grants of Probate and handling administration of estates. She also assists, as necessary, with advising elderly clients in relation to their affairs generally and, in particular, in relation to the preparation of Lasting Powers of Attorney and their registration. Alex regularly acts as a Trustee or Executor, as well as an Attorney for existing clients. She has helped thousands of families and individuals in these areas of work.
Alex prides herself on her clear straightforward advice and approachable manner. She has a good working relationship with referees and clients, many of whom followed her through her change of firm.
Alex is a member of the of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and regularly publishes items in the local press. She is also recognised by the Legal 500 publication.
