Alison is a partner in the Private Client department, based in our Harpenden office. She is a graduate of St Edmund Hall, Oxford and was articled to a London firm renowned for the quality of its private client practice. She remained in London until 2000 when, keen to work in the local area with a firm committed to private client services, she joined Taylor Walton. Alison became a partner in 2003
Alison qualified in 1991 and therefore has 27 years’ post-qualification experience.
She advises on a wide range of issues to an extensive client base including owners of businesses, farms and landed estates and entrepreneurs. She has a very full caseload dealing particularly with Wills, inheritance tax and succession planning, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Trusts and other methods of asset protection and Probate. She also works closely with the firm’s Commercial Litigation Department having developed an expertise in contentious trust and probate claims.
Estate planning (including work in connection with Wills, Trusts and other protective arrangements) accounts for about two-thirds of Alison’s time with the remainder spent dealing with probate matters. In her years of practice, Alison has dealt with some extremely high value and complex estates both in terms of the nature and value of the assets and complicated family dynamics. She prides herself on her pragmatic approach to client problems and her ability to build excellent and long-standing client relationships.
Alison has been consistently been recommended by the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners Independent Directories of the best law firms and lawyers in the UK. She works extensively with professional contacts locally, in London and further afield.
