Sarina James is a Private Client Solicitor based in the Harpenden office. Sarina advises clients on estate planning and preparing Wills and Will Trusts tailored to individual circumstances.

Sarina deals with formal registration of Enduring Powers of Attorney with the Office of the Public Guardian as well as preparation and registration of Lasting Powers of Attorney for Property & Financial Affairs and Health & Welfare matters. Where capacity has been lost and there are no Attorneys appointed, Sarina deals with applications to the Court of Protection for a Deputyship Order.

Sarina spends more than 50% of her time assisting clients who have lost a loved one and can deal with preparing an application for the Grant of Probate (where the deceased died with a Will) or Letters of Administration (where the deceased died without a Will) and the administration of the estate.

Where a beneficiary would prefer to redirect their inheritance, Sarina can advise on and prepare a Deed of Variation which may help to mitigate Inheritance Tax liability. If a property is due to be sold during the course of administration, Sarina can advise executors on a Deed of Appropriation to reduce potential Capital Gains Tax.

Sarina is experienced in dealing with high-net value clients and multi-million pound estates. Sarina often works closely with accountants, investment advisors and stockbrokers to ensure a holistic approach when dealing with estate planning and administration.

Sarina also works with the Property Department to advise and prepare Declarations of Trust for clients who may be purchasing property jointly but contributing unequal shares.

Sarina read Law at King’s College London and attained a 2:1 in 2006 and attended BPP Law School where she achieved a Distinction in 2008. Sarina worked as a paralegal for several years before commencing her two year training contract at a law firm in Buckinghamshire. Sarina qualified as a Private Client Solicitor in September 2014. She joined Taylor Walton in January 2017 and has dealt with over 150 new cases since her arrival.
