People & Talent Partner

About
I am the firm’s People & Talent Partner – a role I thoroughly enjoy. My generalist remit is incredibly varied – there really are no two days that are the same.
I am responsible for managing and developing people practices as well as shaping the firm’s approach to learning & development, talent management and recruitment. At a strategic level I devise new people initiatives which are designed to keep the firm progressing, adapting and evolving in a competitive market.
My role is very rewarding. I genuinely believe that our greatest asset is our people. I get great satisfaction in working hard to build an environment in which our people feel valued, supported, are able to achieve their career aspirations and one in which we all work together for the benefit of our clients.
Particular highlights of the role for me are running the summer placement scheme for aspiring trainee solicitors, managing our trainee solicitor programme and supporting our student legal executives and apprentices through their qualifications. I thoroughly enjoy seeing our trainees, student legal executives and apprentices develop and ultimately take on qualified roles in the firm. Taylor Walton can point to many who have gone on to become Partners.
I manage a team of enthusiastic HR generalists, one of whom I supported through an HR CIPD Apprenticeship.
I graduated in Law from Newcastle University and went on to complete the LPC at York Law School followed by a year working in America. I practised as a solicitor at a city firm before a career change into HR. I have over 20 year’s practical HR experience and am a Chartered Member of the CIPD.
